uspected Muslim terrorists captured by American soldiers fighting in Afghanistan may soon get the chance to live in the U.S., thanks to the dangerous and bizarre policies of the Obama regime.
The U.S. government is seriously considering letting Afghanistan prisoners now held in Guantanamo Bay into the general population of the U.S., said Attorney General Eric Holder.
As head of the Department of Justice, Holder is leading the Obama regime's plans to shut down the American prison camp in Cuba where the U.S. has a military base.
Since the announcement by President Barack Obama that he intends to shut down the prison where some 250 suspected Taliban sympathizers are being held, Holder has been trying to negotiate with foreign countries to convince them to agree to resettle the prisoners. But European negotiators are apparently reluctant to agree to accept the Muslim prisoners unless the U.S. takes some of them, too.
Holder said that for "people who can be released there are a variety of options that we have and among them is the possibility that we would release them into this country," Holder said. "That process is ongoing and we've not made any determinations or made any requests of anybody at this point."
Among the prisoners are 17 ethnic Uighurs, from the Central Asian region of China, who have been ordered released by a federal judge. The U.S. has refused to return them to China, which considers them part of an illegal violent separatist group.. The U.S. believes they would be mistreated if sent back to their homeland. China says that Muslim Uighurs are leading an Islamic insurgency in the Xinjiang region that borders Afghanistan.
